“Cece, I loved your teaching style. Even though there were close to twenty of us ladies in the room, I felt that you were speaking only with me! What a gift God has given you!”

Workshops and the Developing Curriculum

24-Hour Movement Based Learning Course

Movement Based Learning is a way to begin to understand and apply the concept that movement of the body affects the integration of brain function. When the brain is in an integrated state, i.e. able to access all parts of the brain, we return to our natural, normal curious state of learning. It is from this solid foundational space that we reach our greatest potential.

24-hour course (usually over 3-days) provides:

• An in-depth study of how to use Movement Based Learning.
• An excellent application for autism, cerebral palsy, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, speech impairment, developmentally delayed, brain injuries and impairments caused by strokes.
• Applications to typically functioning children and children with learning challenges.
• An opportunity to earn 2 graduate credits through Salem State College in Massachusettes.

Developing Curriculum

This curriculum is designed to culminate in the ability to teach the 24-hour Movement Based Learning course. It is not necessary to desire to teach this course to take any one of the classes listed below.

Course One

Movement Based Learning for Parents and Professionals

This course is a hands-on approach to neurological/reflex/movement pattern integration. It offers participants methods and techniques that can immediately be used with children (or adults) of all abilities. Much attention is given to noticing/assessment skills. This course also includes a brief introduction to Bal-A-Vis-X and basic stages of human development.

• No prerequisites.

Course Two

Movement Based Learning: Integration of Reflexes and Developmental Movement Patterns for Parents and Professionals

This 16 hour course is an introduction to infant and childhood reflexes as they relate in the classroom. Rather than an applied kinesiology class, this course focuses on noticing skills. In addition, how to remediate learning challenges that may originate with the lack of integration of a infant/childhood reflex or developmental movement patterns.

• Prerequisites: MBL for Parents and Professionals.

Course Three

Bal-A-Vis-X and Movement Based Learning for Special Needs

This 15 hour course offers a special combination of adaptive Bal-A-Vis-X and Movement Based Learning. Adaptive Bal-A-Vis-X includes active participation in learning fundamentals

Bal-A-Vis-X principles, rhythms, patterns, procedures, and the first 125 exercises along with multiple modifications of patterns, procedures and exercises will be taught. The developmental building blocks learned in the introductory course of the MBL curriculum will be directly applied to the structure of teaching Bal-A-Vis-X to children who have special needs.

• Prerequisites: BAVX Level One.

Course Four

Movement Based Learning Teacher Practicuum

This course has no hours assigned to it as it is a course that involves creating a forum that will adjunct an already existing practice or school setting. This forum will include a demonstration by the participant of a knowledge base in reference to teaching MBL’s first course, as well as meeting once a year for a 5-day class that will center around professional development. This class culminates in an ability to teach the first course MBL for Parents and Professionals. The license to teach this course will be renewable every 3 years.

• Prerequisites: MBL for Parents and Professionals; MBL: Integration of Reflexes and Developmental Movement Patterns for Parents and Professionals; Bal-A-Vis-X and MBL for Special Needs.
